The property is made up of undulating land with excellent topsoil of clay over coffee rock, gravel and granite. The region’s warm, dry summers and cool nights ripen grapes to perfection. The 20-acre estate plantings are focused on the traditional Rhône varieties of Shiraz and Viognier.

Peel Estate Wines has been an integral part of the Peel Region for over 40 years. The Peel region with its close proximity to the Indian Ocean is the ideal location to grow wine grapes as it combines unique coastal limestone soils and a Mediterranean climate, ensuring wines with fruit intensity along with specific regional characteristics.
In 1973 the first Shiraz vines were planted, followed by Chenin Blanc and Zinfandel in 1976, and Cabernet Sauvignon in 1979. Other varieties such as Chardonnay, Verdelho, Cabernet Franc and the traditional Portuguese Port Varieties were planted in 1980.

Picnics & BBQ’s - There are BBQ facilities and plenty of shady trees for family picnics. The cellar door is open for sampling and wines can be bought to take away or enjoy in the grounds. The grounds are available for use by customers during our opening hours of 10am to 5pm, 7 days a week
